Session Pacing Visual Timer for Therapists
A discreet visual countdown that shifts color at 75%, 10 minutes, and 5 minutes remaining. Use it to pace 45, 50, or 60-minute therapy sessions without clock-watching or interrupting the work.

The timer is a visual pacing aid, not a hard boundary. Use the color cues (green, yellow, orange, red) to guide closing and recap segments without staring at a clock.
All timing math runs in your browser. No data is sent to a server, so you can keep this window open during sessions without privacy concerns.

Open toolWhat this session pacing timer handles
Therapy sessions are time-sensitive but watching a clock breaks presence. This visual timer changes color as the session progresses — green during the working middle, yellow at the closing segment, orange ten minutes from the end, and red in the final five.
Use it on a second monitor, a tablet propped beside you, or full screen for a more focused pacing cue. Optional chimes at 10 and 5 minutes give you a gentle nudge without autoplay.
Use it for situations like
- You want to honor a 50-minute session without watching the clock during the work.
- You want to signal the closing segment visually so the client can prepare to wrap.
- You run telehealth sessions and want a pacing helper visible on a second screen.
- You are training in a new modality and want to learn how long different segments take.
FAQ
Questions therapists ask before using this calculator
Does the timer autoplay audio?
No. Sound chimes are optional and must be enabled by clicking the checkbox. There is no autoplay, so the timer is safe to leave on during a session without surprising the client.
How accurate is the countdown?
The timer uses Date.now() math, so it stays accurate even if the browser throttles the visual update. The page updates a few times per second while running.
Can I run the timer in full screen?
Yes. Click "Toggle full screen" to hide the rest of the page and let the timer fill the monitor. Press Escape or click the button again to exit full screen.
Does the timer run offline?
Once the page has loaded, the timer runs entirely in your browser. It does not need a network connection once the assets are cached.
Will the timer block me from taking notes?
No. The timer is a single browser tab. You can keep your EHR or note-taking app open in a second window and glance at the timer for pacing cues.
